Graeme Macrae Burnet

Graeme Macrae Burnet was born in Kilmarnock in 1967. He studied English Literature at Glasgow University before spending some years teaching in France, the Czech Republic and Portugal. He then took an M.Litt in International Security Studies at St Andrews University and fell into a series of jobs in television. These days he lives in Glasgow.

He has been writing since he was a teenager. His first book, The Disappearance of Adèle Bedeau (2014), is a literary crime novel set in a small town in France. His second novel, His Bloody Project (2015), revolves around the murder of a village birleyman in nineteenth century Wester Ross. He likes Georges Simenon, the films of Michael Haneke and black pudding.

His Bloody Project

in 1869, a brutal triple murder in the remote Wester Ross village of Culduie leads to the arrest of a seventeen-year-old crofter, Roderick Macrae. There is no question of Macrae’s guilt, but it falls to the country’s most eminent legal and psychiatric minds to uncover what drove him to his bloody deeds. Ultimately, the young man’s fate hinges on one key question: is he insane?

The story ingeniously unfolds through a series of found documents, including police statements; the accused’s prison memoir; the account of renowned psychiatrist, J. Bruce Thomson; and a report of the trial, compiled from contemporary newspapers

"El trato es inmejorable, al igual que la profesionalidad de sus profesores y la calidad de los cursos que imparten. Especialmente recomendables son los cursos de Inglés para C2 y de Literatura, a los que he acudido. Es un centro ideal para cualquier persona que esté interesada en el aprendizaje eficiente del inglés. También se lo aconsejo a profesores en activo que busquen un reciclaje y profundización en lengua inglesa y literatura y a futuros profesores que estén preparando las oposiciones para optar a una plaza."
